Beyond Metro Limits
- Abhiram
I beg your forgiveness, I did it only because I was coerced to
and though you make this seem like betrayal,
I would still consider us friends
would you still condemn my transgression
when you see that the closest in Patel Nagar is
a piece of shit, a dilapidated hag whose
doors you enter as Perseus did the gorgon lair
where comfort and loot are never available
where I am refused two cool minutes of rest
even before I try to get my sweat
I would still consider us friends because
would you tell me, teller, that you cannot
find it in your soul to pardon my actions?
would you tell me there is nothing there
but a binary world of black and white?
I have been forced into the arms of others
time and again, imagine the fees
do you not remember, my sweet
your so-called comrades steal extra ‘fees’
when the deal goes over ten thousand rupees?
hear me, and hear me clear
I’d see the world burn to use you
to see our matching sigils
ensconced in a loving embrace
paradise would avert its eyes in shame
to the pleasure I gain when
your depths cling and draw my
sacred plastic
into your boxy body
but let it not be said I neglected my part
I’ll find you next time, wait for the queue to depart
so you never have to say it again
so I never wake up to a message that read
‘You transacted at a non-ICICI Bank ATM. You could also use ICICI Bank ATMs for your transactions. Click to locate ICICI Bank ATMs.’
